内容简介

《＜自然＞百年科学经典》是国内首套英汉双语对照版的《自然》论文精选集，由外语教学与研究出版社联合麦克米伦出版集团和自然出版集团共同策划出版。这套书由著名物理学家李政道先生担任总顾问，并由中国科学院前任院长路甬祥院士、《自然》杂志前任主编约翰·马多克斯（Sir John Maddox）爵士和菲利普·坎贝尔（Sir Philip Campbell）爵士出任主编。该丛书汇集了自《自然》杂志1869年创刊以来近150年间自然科学各领域（生物、物理、化学、天文、材料、基础医学、地球科学等）的重大发现和发明。全书通过原汁原味的科学论文，回顾了自然科学各个领域波澜壮阔的发展史。

《自然》百年科学经典（第四卷）收录了自1946年至1965年发表在《自然》杂志上的经典论文，涵盖了物理、化学、生物、天文、地球科学五个学科领域，共计107篇。在这段时间里，物理学、生物学等领域均出现了突破性的进展：盖伯提出全息摄影技术原理；沃森和克里克提出脱氧核糖核酸（DNA）的双螺旋结构模型；肯德鲁解析出肌红蛋白分子的三维结构；梅曼发明第一台红宝石激光器；施密特确认第一个类星体3C273；瓦因和马修斯提出大洋中脊上磁异常的新解释……百年自然科学的波澜壮阔，尽在《自然》百年科学经典。
