本书以事件融合模型为理论框架，以汉语使用者和英语使用者为实验对象，使用实验诱导法和对比分析法，探讨时间变量和工具变量对说话者关于初始因果链和持续因果链的事件数量分类及句法表征的影响，研究在汉语使用者和英语使用者小组内部，以及汉语使用者和英语使用者之间初始因果链和持续因果链从概念事件的融合到句法的融合之间的映射有无差异。
