本书作者在阐释不规则形态的习得机制与实证的基础上，探讨网络环境中英语不规则形态的规则化变化趋势。著名语言学家乔姆斯基指出，充分研究必须体现三大充分性：充分观察、充分描写和充分解释。但当今研究普遍认为充分解释依然不是研究的最终目标，充分研究还应包括另外两大充分性：充分评价与充分预测，即研究还必须充分预测事物发展的趋势规律。本研究正是试图开辟此类研究之先河。其特别意义在于：通过其规则化趋势研究评估英语的发展现状与趋势，更好地指导中国英语教学。??
